What affirming therapy actually means
Affirming therapy is not just tolerance. It is a therapist who understands LGBTQ+ experiences from the inside out, who does not need you to explain why certain things are hard, who does not treat your identity as a symptom or a problem to be worked through.
Our therapists understand the layers. The minority stress that comes from navigating a world that is not always safe. The family dynamics that get complicated by identity. The grief of coming out late. The specific ways anxiety, depression, and trauma show up in LGBTQ+ people, and how neurodivergence intersects with all of it.
You should not have to spend your therapy sessions educating your therapist. You should be able to just show up.
Who we work with
LGBTQ+ affirming care for wherever you are in your experience.
Teens navigating identity
Figuring out who you are while the people around you may not fully understand. We provide a safe space for teens to explore identity without pressure or agenda.
Adults coming out later in life
Late coming-out carries its own specific grief and complexity, relationships, identity, and years of living differently than you felt inside. We understand all of it.
Gender identity and transition
Gender-affirming care for nonbinary, trans, and gender-questioning people. We support you, not a framework about who you should be.
Neurodivergent and LGBTQ+
ADHD and autism are significantly more prevalent in LGBTQ+ people. We hold both, and understand how they shape each other in ways most therapists are not trained to see.
Family and relationship challenges
Navigating family rejection, chosen family, or relationships where identity dynamics add complexity. We help you figure out what you need and how to get there.
Minority stress and mental health
Anxiety, depression, and trauma are more common in LGBTQ+ people, and the reasons are real. We take the broader context seriously, not just the symptoms.
